Here is some insight how facts are being treated in case they are not in favour of Linux
The story is not actually about technical stuff (though it's a reason for comparison) but the way UNIX worshippers treats anything which comes from Microsoft.
So the story is as follows. Mindcraft (which might or might not affiliated with Microsoft) decided to make a benchmark comparison between Red Hat Linux and Windows NT. Original test was dating back to 1999 and has shown that NT outperformed Linux in all tests (file server and web server performance). Of course Linux worshippers started bitching (as they always do) that test was biased, that Mindcraft are satanic organization, even Linus Torvalds himself bitched about the test (http://www.mindcraft.com/openbenchmark.html ) etc, etc, etc.
So naturally Mindcraft wanted to vindicate its reputation so it asked public Linux community to participate. Engineers from Red Hat, Samba, Apache participated in preparing servers for second run. In order to stop UNIX bitching once and forever benchmark test was performed in PC Week headquarters in California.
So Linux worshippers community naturally expected that Linux would outperform NT in this new tests since Linux community is actively participating now. What is strange that none of that people ever even started to think that may be what they believe in (superiority of Linux/UNIX) is just a dream, that's exactly why they are "worshippers" rather then reputable admins.
Ok, back to story. In order not to waste your time: NT has shown on average 2x performance in file server tests and almost 3 times performance in web server tests.
Please note that all results are official and signed off by public community and PC Weeks labs. What is the result? Did Linux worshippers said "sorry we were wrong"? No! Can you imagine what would happen if Linux would perform better - there would headlines on all anti-Microsoft sites, people would have penguins smashing Windows on their T-shirts, etc, etc, etc.
Worshippers are still worshippers, they never question their religion, they just blindly believe and idolizing their favorite OS.
